Wheel tread and flange side were turned. I used round nose bit with flange filet radius. The compound slide was set at 3 degrees for tread angle and the bit was set to obtain 10 degrees of flange angle. I set dials to zero at the end position of cutting to get the same result for all wheels. This cutting is the most important in the process.

踏面とフランジの切削。先端をフランジのフィレットのRに加工した先丸剣バイトを使用。コンパウドを3°に設定しバイトの角度をフランジ角10°になるようにする。切削完了ポイントのダイヤル位置をゼロに設定すれば、ぜんぶ同じに削れる。この切削が車輪で一番重要である。

Wheel treads and flange sides were turned out.

踏面切削完了。

Tyre border was marked by screw cutting bit.

ねじ切りバイトでタイヤ部分を罫書く。

Wheel web parts were thinned by round nose bit. This was also quite heavy cutting.

先丸剣バイトで肉抜き。これもかなりな重切削。刃物台がコンパウンドの送りネジに押されて動いてしまう。

Wheel webs were turned.

肉抜き部切削完了。

Back side of the flanges were cut at 10 degrees.

フランジの裏側を10°に切削。

Edges of the flanges were rounded by a file.

フランジのRはヤスリでつける。

All lathe work on wheel were finished.

これで車輪の旋盤作業は終了。

By making grab screw thread the wheels were completed.

固定ネジ穴を開ければ車輪は完成する。
