I attached a printout of hole locations on cleaned up frame pieces. The printout is only for reference and positioning was done by dials of the mill table thoroughly. At first I counted the rotation of the dials, but often miscounted and gave up the counting. Instead I moved the table roughly referring the printout and final adjustment was done by dials.

Once the position was located, mill table was clamped and made hols in following order:

  • Mark starting point with spotting drill
  • Drill hole (using a couple of drills to enlarge)
  • Ream hole (only for axle holes and cylinder mounting holes)

All holes were drilled.

I could finish the frame plates at this stage, but decided to make cut-outs as suggested by the book. I used 15mm end mill to cut these long holes. It seemed using this size of end mill exceeded the capability of the mill. I could see the end mill wobbled while cutting. (Later I found a trouble at mill head jib and it might cause the problem.)

The cut surfaces were messy because of end mill wobbling. I cleaned it up by a file. The size of the hole became about 0.1mm larger.

Frame plates cut out were separated by melting the solder.
