I made radius rods and union links.

ラディアス・ロッドとユニオンリンクを作ります。

Last time the solder did not flow well. So this time I heated the material quite well to help the solder to flow all over the material.

前回のメインロッドでは半田が十分に回ってなかったので今回はしつこく熱し全体に回るようにしました。

I cut centre parts of the rods at first. The left was radius rods and right was union links.

メインロッドの時と同様にロッドの中央部分から削ります。左がラディアス・ロッド、右がユニオンリンクです。

Rods were cut out by slotting saw.

すり割りフライスで切断。

Ends were rounded.

ロッドエンドの丸め。

Mistake

In the last step, rounding the ends of radius rods, I made a mistake. The rods were pulled by the end mill. Bloody hell, I had to make them again.

失敗

ラディアス・ロッドを切り離してから端部を丸めるときに大失敗。最後の最後にロッドがエンドミルに喰い込み、こんなざまに。これは作り直すしかないな。

I started it again from the start.

残った材料でやり直しました。

Failure

This time the saw teeth caught and bent the material! Anyway bent part would not be used and the used part was not damaged much.

今度はすり割りフライスで切り離すときにワークが動いてしまい、すり割りフライスが喰い込んだ！矢印のところが曲がってしまったのですが、この部分は捨てるところなんであまり問題はありませんでした。

I made jigs to prevent rounding failure.

今回は丸めで失敗しないようにジグを製作。

This long moment of the arm would prevent pulling and catching by the end mill.

このくらい取っ手が長ければまず喰い込まれることはありません。

Rounding the ends of tiny union link was easy with the jig.

小さいユニオンリンクも楽勝です。

Finished rods.

切削完了。かなり小さい。

Temporary soldering was removed.

仮止めの半田を剥がします。

I made a mistake in setting the cutting hight of slotting saw resulting the arrowed part was flat. I forgot the thickness of the saw. Anyway the radius rods would be installed in the groove of the combination lever and this mistake could not be seen.

This time I used two-flute end mill for initial cutting and changed it to four-flute one to finish up. The surface cut by four-flute end mill was very smooth and I did not feel need of further finishing.

完成したラディアス・ロッドとユニオンリンクです。矢印の部分はすり割りフライスの刃厚を忘れて送り切りすぎてしまったところです。まあ、コンビネーション・レバーの中に入り込んでどうせ見えなくなる部分なので良しとします。なお、今回は最初の溝彫は二枚刃、仕上げは四枚刃エンドミルを使用。四枚刃で削ったところはとてもきれいです。
