I put dummy rivets to the smoke box. At first I divided the rivet locations by 20 using “Lathe Spindle Indexing”, but failed. I redid it. So there are two marks at each location. Upper larger marks were correct ones. I would fill out the wrong marks later.

ここで煙室にリベットを植え込むことにしました。｢旋盤主軸割り出し｣を使って20等分したんですが失敗。やり直したのでマークが各穴二つできてしまった。上のマークが正しい奴です。間違ったマークは埋めなければならんな。

I used 3/64 rivets and drilled holes with 1.2mm drill.

使用するリベットが3/64"なので1.2mmのドリルでガンガン開けます。

I removed burs inside in this way. My thumb was sore and it was very cumbersome.

内側のバリはこのようにして取り除きました。指は痛くなるし、とてもめんどい。

I made headlight holder. I had no intention to install headlight, but it would be good accent. I cut out these parts from 1X3mm brass strip.

ここでヘッドライト掛けを作ることにします。ヘッドライトをつけるつもりはないんですがちょっとしたアクセントになりますね。まずは1X3mmの真鍮帯板からこんなものを切り出し。

They were silver soldered.

組み合わせて、銀ロウ付け。

I removed redundant parts and drilled installation holes. Then it was fixed to the smoke box by rivets.

余計な部分を切り取って取り付け穴を開ければ完成。煙室にはリベット止めとしました。

ミスったマークのへこみもこのエポキシで埋めることに。

Unwanted recesses were filled quite nicely.

おー、なかなかきれいに埋まっているではないか。

I drove rivets with epoxy in the smoke box by a nail punch.

エポキシを付けたリベットをこの釘締めで打ち込みます。日本の釘締めと違ってこちらのはちょうどいい具合に先が凹んでいます。

Rivets were installed. Um, I wondered they looked too large. It was too late to change the rivets. I hoped they would not be so apparent after painted in black.

リベット植え込み完了。う〜ん、なんかリベットがやたら大きくないか？今更どうしようもないし、黒く塗装すればあまり目立たなくなることを期待して、このまま行きます。

I installed an orientation pin on the door and recess on the smoke box.

煙室と扉の位置合わせにピンを扉に植え込み、煙室には切込みを入れました。
