Boiler end plates in the textbook were simple copper plates. I tried to make them flanged. I used a press owned by a club member.

Copper plates were not able to press in one action. They were annealed and pressed in a couple of times.

Upper one was the plate after final press. However it was hard to remove it from the punch. It was necessary to tap around the work by a hummer to loose it.

The end plates need to have about 19mm hole to accept burner flute. I learnt to drill a clear large hole on thin plate by stuffing a piece of rag.

The rag will prevent the drill caught by material.

This is my friend's job. Very clean.

This is my job. Not good enough.

However I found the flanged end plates were slightly smaller (about 0.5mm) than inner diameter of copper tube I obtained. I guess the press punch and die were made to suite to 16G copper tube and what I got was 18G.
