I applied home made decals to the cab and side tanks. I used masking tapes for alignment and decal setter for secure adhesion.

塗り終わったサイドタンクと運転室にデカールを貼ることにした。デカールは自作。マスキング・テープで位置決めをし、デカール・セッターで貼りつけ。

I made up these for the cab.

運転室にはこんなモノを適当にでっち上げた。

The result of decal application was not good at all. Heavy silvering appeared. I think the paint surface was too rough including primer. Repainting might be required.

ところが、デカールが乾いたらひどい白浮きが発生。塗装面が粗すぎるようだ。どうもプライマーからして粗すぎる気がする。これは塗りなおしをしなければいかんかなー。

Repainted smoke box dried. Gloss of the smoke box was totally different from former painting. I wanted semi-gloss finish like smoke box. I though the former painting was failure and decided repainting. I think my painting skill is getting better.

前回塗った煙室が乾燥した。これを前に塗ったのと比べると全然違うじゃん。今回の塗りはうまく行ったと思う。半ツヤだから右側くらいのツヤがほしいんだよね。デカール貼りも失敗だし、やはり塗りなおしを考えなけりゃいかんなー。気が重いが、だんだん塗装のコツは掴めてきたような気がする。

I found Humbrol enamels diluted for airbrush and stored in small bottles started to cure. It seemed small amount of enamel stored in a bottle cured reacting with air. I feel enamel in this condition only last about a month or so.

エアブラシ用に薄めたハンブロール・エナメルはタミヤカラーの空き瓶に保存していたのだが、みんな固まりかけていた。ビンに空気が多いとハンブロール・エナメルはビンの中の空気と反応して固まり始めてしまうようだ。一ヶ月くらいしか持たないんではないんだろうか？

I was running out of spare bottles and cleaned used ones with brake fluid.

空きビンの手持ちも少なくなってきたので、ビンをブレーキ・フルードに浸けてきれいにすることにした。

I decided to remove painting of the cab, side tanks and end beams. I stripped side tanks and end beams with brake fluid. However brake fluid on hand was not enough for the cab. So I used paint stripper on hand. It worked quire well and quick.

結局、運転室、サイドタンク、端梁は塗り直すことにした。サイドタンク、端梁はブレーキ・フルードで剥がしたが運転室を付けるほどのブレーキ・フルードはない。そこで手持ちのペイント・ストリッパーを使ってみた。これはブレーキ・フルードより即効性があり、塗る端から落ちる感じ。
