When I held a large work piece on the four jaw chuck and tried to turn, the lathe stopped with large hitting sound and the drive belt was slipping. The extruded part of the four jaw chuck hit the cross table! I should check the chuck never touched anywhere before turning.

四つ爪にちょっと大きなものを咥えて回そうとしたとき、ガンという大音響とともに旋盤が停止、ベルトがスリップしているではないか！四つ爪の先がクロススライドに喰い込んでいました。旋盤を回すときはどこにもぶつからないかチェックしましょう。コレットチャックをよく使うのでチェックする習慣ができていなかった。いかんいかん。

I found lot of burrs when used 6mm four flute end mill that I used for about half a year. I checked the edges of the end mill and found the end mill was quite worn. If amount of metal this end mill removed was considered, the wear was not wonder. I should consider the end mills as consumable.

The photo below shows the chipped 3mm two flute end mill. The slot it made was much larger than expected. The condition of the end mills should be checked before use. Anyway I damaged six end mill in half a year in total.

半年ほど使った6mm四枚刃のエンドミルで削るとバリがやたらに出るようになりました。刃先を調べてみるとこのようにぼろぼろ状態。このミルが削った鉄の量を考えればまあこんなになっても当たり前か。エンドミルの削る量はドリルなんかとは比較にならない量です。エンドミルは消耗品のようですね。よく使うもは大量に注文しておこうと思います。

下の写真は3mm二枚刃エンドミル。矢印の部分が欠けています。切り込んだときに穴がやたらに大きくなってしまったので発見。エンドミルは使う前に刃の状態をチェックするようにしましょう。半年、いろいろやって、つぶしたエンドミルはこの二本と根元から折れた2mmと3mmの二枚刃エンドミルなど計六本です。まあ、こんなもんでしょう。

I often forgot or mistook the steps of the work. So I decided to make a progress check sheet. With this I reduced my mistakes dramatically.

よく作業手順を飛ばしたり、間違えたりするので工程表を作ることにしました。チェックを入れながら作業を進めればミスをかなり防ぐことができます。
