I won a dial gauge magnetic base at eBay. It came with this plastic plate. This can be used as a chip guard or drawing holder.
eBayで落札したダイヤルゲージのスタンドにこんなものがおまけで付いてきました。切子シールドにも使えるし、製作中のものの図面を挟んでおくこともできます。

Upper joint of above dial indicator stand came out. The retaining nut inside the joint was loose. However I could not find how to reach the nut. I had used it for a couple of months with very loose upper joint that often came out.
上記のマグネット・スタンドの矢印の部品がすっぽ抜けてしまった。内部のねじが緩んで抜けてしまったんだが分解方法がわからず、半端にねじ込まれたままで数カ月使ってました。しょっちゅうぬけていい加減うんざり。ブラディー中国製とか悪態をついていたのです。

One day I found a slight line on the bottom joint. Aha, the joint could be separated at this line!
ところがある日、ベース側のジョイントにかすかな筋を発見。ということはここから別れるはずだ。 |

Finally I could disassemble the upper arm and joint. Arrowed part was the nut loosened. I tighten this firmly with thread lock.
分解できた上部アーム。矢印が緩んでいたナット。ねじロックを塗ってしっかり締めておきました。 |

This is the mechanism to lock the upper joint. Part 1 is pulled when the knob tightened pushing part 2 toward the joint and part 2 pushes the ball against the housing to lock it.
どうやって上部関節をロックしているのかと言えば①の部品が引かれると斜めの溝により②の棒が押され、ジョイントのボールを押してロックします。

アルミの切断 Cutting Aluminium

I hard from a person of a steel workshop that wood circular saw can cut aluminium, copper and brass. I tried it with aluminium with my wood mitre-saw. It worked quite well. I have not tried copper or brass yet. Wood circular saws have carbide chips brazed and carbide can cut aluminium quite easily.
知り合いの鉄工所の人にアルミとか銅、真鍮は木工用の丸のこで切れるってことを教わりました。で、早速アルミで試してみたんですが、実によく切れます。まだ真鍮は試していません。木工用丸のこ刃はカーバイドチップが刃先にロウ付けされているのでアルミごときは簡単に切れるようです。 |
磁石 Magnet

I dropped the fixing nuts of the lathe chucks very often and was sick of this. This extendable magnet is very handy to prevent the nuts and washers from dropping.
旋盤のチャック固定ナットをワッシャーなんですがいつも落としてしまうんですね。そこで100円ショップで買った、のびのび磁石を少し下に配置しておいてからナットを緩めれば紛失の恐れが無くなります。

I found a pill case (A$2.50) in a $2 shop. It is perfect to store small screws, etc.

メッシュ・サンドペーパー Mesh Sanding Sheet

I found this mesh type sanding sheet in a 100 yen shop in Japan. This lasts much longer than wet and dry sandpaper and very nice to use. Recently I use only this to polish the rods. I do not think this one is good for curved surfaces but ideal for flat surfaces.
100円ショップで見つけたメッシュ状のサンドペーパー。耐水ペーパーよりはるかに長持ちするし、とても使いやすい。ロッド類の仕上げには最近こればかり使っています。曲面は向きませんが平面には最高です。 |
スケール・ルーペ Scale Lupe

I use this "Scale Lupe" to check cutting edges of my lath and fly-cutter tool bits. It is called scale lupe in Japan, but I am not sure it is correct terminology in English. Mine is Japanese brand Peak 1983 with optional reticle No.2. With this rectil, length, angle and radius can be measured. This is really nice in checking built-up edge, rounding an edge to specific diameter.
スケール・ルーペである。Peakの1983に別売のレクティルNo.2を付けて使っている。ついてくるレクティルNo.1は長さ測定だけでありあまり役にたたない。主な用途は旋盤、フライカッター用のバイトの刃先チェック。これで見ると刃先の状態が非常によく分かる。構成刃先なんか一発でわかる。このNo.2レクティルは非常に便利。長さだけではなく径、角度も測れる。レクティルの下の方にある円を使えば正確に刃先のRをつけることができる。 |
