I painted benches with oil-base enamel to prevent ingress of oil, etc. into wood. Also I did not want to touch treated pine directly.

油などの染み込み防止と、防腐処理済みの材木に直接触りたくないので、塗装しました。油性のエナメルを使用。

I hired an engine-hoist to raise the machines to top of the benches.

旋盤とフライス盤を据え付け台まで吊上げるには、このエンジンホイストと呼ばれている道具を使いました。車のエンジンの付け外しに使う道具です。レンタル工具屋さんから借りてきたわけです。これがあれば安全に吊上げることができます。

I raised the mill first because slinging was much easier with it.

まずは軽くてロープ掛けのしやすいフライス盤から。

Attach a sling to the lathe was much trickier. I used ribs of lathe bed as lifting points. The lathe tilted backward when lifted because back was heavier because of motor location, and must be held by somebody while lifted.

旋盤はロープ掛けがちょっと面倒です。ベッドのリブを使用してロープを掛けました。吊上げた時は重心の関係で傾いてしまうので、支える必要があります。

Job was quite easy and safe by using engine-hoist.

エンジンホイストのおかげで大変楽にかつ安全に据え付けできました。
