大畑のポイント操作はポイントの集中する二本のスイッチバック線の交わるところにある信号所で行われていました。信号所は駅本屋からはかなり離れていて駅員さんは自転車で移動していました。

The operation of points was carried out from the signal house located at the centre of the switchback layout where the most points were concentrated. The signal house was located bit far from the station house and station staff used push bikes to go to the signal house.

ポイントの操作は長大な操作桿（要は鉄パイプ）を手動で動かすので大変重かったのです。足まで使い全身で操作します。

Operation of points was all manual and the point operation levers were really heavy to manoeuvre.

信号所の中はとても綺麗でした。土足厳禁だったんですね。

Inside the signal house was very clean and everybody to enter the signal house had to remove their shoes as if they entered the ordinary Japanese house.
