Some times it is necessary to cut styrene rods in very thin sections, for example making washers. I made a simple jig to do this job from scrap styrene.

スチロールの棒材を薄く輪切りにしたいことがあります。例えばワッシャーを作るときなんか。そのためのジグを作りました。構造は簡単です。スクラップスチロールで適当に作りました。

Push the material against the positioner and put a thin knife on the rod. Rotate the rod while applying pressure on the knife. In this case thickness of spacer is 0.5mm and thickness of the knife blade is 0.25mm. So the thickness of cut material will be about 0.65mm.

使い方は位置決め部に材料を付き当て、カッター溝にカッターをいれて押しながら材料を回して切ります。スペーサーが0.5mmでカッター刃の厚さが0.25mmなので約0.65mmに切れるはずです。

Even with the jig some variations are inevitable. Cut many and use only good ones.

ジグを使ってもかなりばらつきが出ます。たくさん切っていい物を使います。
