I am planning to make carriages for ERIC, and made arch-bar trucks for them. I made similar trucks for 1/24 carriages before. This time the scale would be 1/17 and the trucks would be much bigger. This time the trucks would be sprung.? At first the master truck frames were made from bent 1X4mm brass strips.

ERICに牽かせる客車用のアーチバー台車を作ることにしました。基本的には以前作った1/24のものと同様な作りですが、今回は1/17とするので大きくなるのと、同じに作ってもつまらないのでスプリング可動とするつもりです。台枠主要部分は1X4mmの真鍮帯板を曲げて作ります。

Parts were soldered. I do not use soldering iron now for this kind of job. I can not wait for warming up of the iron.

これをハンダ付け。最近は温まるまで待つのがかったるいので半田ごては使わなくなってしまった。

Axle boxes were milled out from laminated styrene sheets.

軸箱部分は積層スチロールよりフライスで削り出す。

Dummy boltheads and nuts were fixed. It is much larger than former truck (above).

ボルトヘッド、ナットを接着。上の前作に比べるとえらくデカイ。

By fixing spring seat the master of he trucks finished. The prototype was four springs at one side, but four of them should be too strong as a model of this scale. So I decided to install only two.

バネ受けをつければ台枠の原型は完成です。なお、実物は片側４個のバネがついてますが、可動にするとバネが強くなりすぎるので２個としました。
