To make threshold plates, checkered plates were required. However I did not think any of this sort of plates were available in 1/19 scale. So I decided to make them by etching 0.4mm brass sheets. I used ironing method to make resist. I made two patterns, classical cross lines (2mm line interval),

And bit modern patter as this.

I cut out the plates from checkered plate by jewellers saw with #8/0 blade. Usually I do not break the saw blades so often, but this case I broke many blades unusually. I guess frequent change of the thickness may cause jam of the blade. After applying small amount of molybdenum grease the trouble was eased.

Cut out plates were held on the vice and bent pushing by a brass rod and hammered by rubber hammer. This gave clear right angle bend.

Finished threshold plate.
