I made downspouts for gutters. In former carriage models I omitted them, but this time the models are large and better to have downspouts. At first I made a master of spout bracket from 3mm styrene rod and 1mm sheet.

雨樋の竪樋を作ることにします。前作では省略しましたが今回は作って見ることに。まずは竪樋の固定具を3mmスチロール棒、1mmスチロール板からこのように作り。

Gaps were filled by putty and rivets made by beating tool were added. These should be boltheads I think, but with boltheads it would be hard to remove babbles in the mould.

パテで隙間を埋め、ナナコで作ったリベットを取り付けます。ここはリベットではなくボルトヘッドのほうが正解なんでしょうがボルトヘッドでは盛大にシリコン型に泡が残りそうなのでリベットにしました。

1mm styrene rod was added as mounting leg.

更に1mmスチロール棒の固定足を取り付ける。

I thought resin was not tough enough to function as a mounting leg, and tried make them by white metal casting. As I wondered, the molten metal did not flow well.

レジンでは固定足の強度が足りないと思い、ホワイトメタルで鋳造してみたが、心配した通りまったく湯が回らない。

I abandoned the idea to cast the mounting leg as a part of the bracket and casted the bracket by resin. The spout itself was made from 2mm styrene rod.

結局、取り付け足を一体にすることは諦めてレジンで複製した。竪樋は2mmのスチロール棒で作る。

To keep mounting strength I added copper wire mounting leg.

取り付け強度を出すためにレジンパーツからスチロール棒まで貫通穴を開け銅線を差し込んだ。

Mounting holes were drilled on the body and the spouts were fixed. The location of the spouts is different from the prototype. In the prototype the spouts are mounted at body side of the deck, not the end panel side. However to make masking in painting easier I decided to move the spout to end panel side. I planed to paint in different colour only around windows to prevent messy masking at the spouts.

車体側にも穴を開け、銅線を差し込んで竪樋を固定。プロトタイプではデッキの妻側ではなく、車体側に付いているんだが、塗り分けを考えて妻側にした。竪樋のマスキングはどう考えても地獄であり避けたい。そこで竪樋を妻の側面に移し、窓まわりだけ塗り分けて妻部分の側面は塗り分けしないことにしたのだ。

I tried masking of the spout after fixing them and found it might be possible masking at the spouts.

竪樋取り付け後にマスキングが出来るか試してみた。なんとかできそうなので竪樋も塗り分けるかもしてない。
