I painted the deck floors and steps by brown. Again the masking was quite messy.

デッキの床をマスクして茶色に塗った。これもかなりの地獄であった。

I painted frames with black + red brown. I found the masking was not wide enough and some parts had spatters of frame colour. By this painting of the body was mostly finished.

床下も塗装。マスキングが少し足りなかった。一部、黒の塗料が緑の部分にも飛んでしまった。これで車体の塗装は一応完了。

I applied homemade decals.

自作デカールを貼る。

I cut decals at the grooves of weatherboards and pushed the decals in by a styrene blade.

板の継ぎ目はカッターで切れ目を入れてからプラ製のヘラで押し込む。

There were many weatherboard grooves that were not painted well because of too deep cutting, I guess. So I decided to give a wash to the weatherboards with diluted oil paint. I planned to cover the model with Humbrol satin coat and made a test piece with coats of Tamiya acrylic, decal and Humbrol. Then I gave a wash to the test piece. The result was a disaster by finding out Humbrol was dissolved by turpentine I used to dilute the oil paint. Of course the decal was also dissolved. I decided to the decals with Tamiya acrylic then give a coat of Humbrol.
I used to use gum turp for this purpose, but gum turp stank so much and got a trouble with my wife. I changed it to low odour turp getting not complaints from wife.

板の継ぎ目の溝を深くしすぎたためか、塗料がまわっていない溝が多い。油絵の具を薄めたものでウォッシュを入れ継ぎ目を暗くすることにした。ハンブロールのサテン・コートで上塗りをする予定だったのでこれがウォッシュに耐えられるかテストした。ハンブロールはテレピン油系の油には溶けてしまうことが判明した。もちろんデカールも溶ける。そこで、タミヤアクリルのクリアーを吹いてから、ウォッシュを行い、ハンブロールでコートすることにした。
なお、今まではガム・タープと呼ばれている、植物性のテレピン油（左）を使用していたが匂いがきつくたまらんので、低臭性のテレピン油（中央）に換えた。

The washing solution was applied to the deck.

Excess solution was wiped out. The grooves were more clearly seen.

このあと余分な塗料は拭きとる。継ぎ目がはっきりわかるようになる。

The right is without a wash and he left is after the wash. The difference is obvious.

右がウォッシュ前。左がウォッシュ後。継ぎ目がはっきりしたのがわかるであろう。

I tried wash solution on the left, darker, but it seemed too thick. The wash solution on the right was slightly darker than base colour and worked well. Better to have lighter weathering than over done.

ウィッシュ液であるが、はじめ左のかなり黒くしたものを試したが黒過ぎた。右の地色よりかすかに黒いぐらいのもの方がいい。やり過ぎないようにかなり控えめに行った。
