I decided to install handrails after painting. So the roots of the handrails had to be masked before painting. I made a simple jig from styrene to make the masking easier. A piece of double sided tape was applied to the jig.

手すりは塗装後に取り付けるので手すりの未塗装部分をマスクするためのジグを作った。スチロール板に3mmのスチロール棒を植えたもの。更に両面テープを貼っておく。

A piece of masking tape was attached to the double sided tape. Obviously sticky side of the masking tape placed upward.

マスキングテープを両面テープに粘着面を上にして貼る。

Stick the handrail to the masking tape.

手すりをマスキングテープに貼り付け。

Fold and wrap the masking tape to the handrail.

マスキングテープを手すりに巻きつければ。

Masking is easily and accurately done.

すべての手すりに同じ位置にマスキングができる。

マスキングした手すりを割り箸に固定する。

I applied etch primer to handrails and threshold plates.
