I used a Neodymium magnet to hold the cab roof as usual.

運転室の屋根は磁石固定とします。屋根にはネオジュームマグネットを固定。

Dummy couplers were mounted. I made 2mm holes on the end beams.

ダミーカプラーの取り付けです。端梁に2mmの穴をあけ。

The dummy couplers were attached to the end beams via 2mm brass wire.

2mmの真鍮線を介して取り付けます。

Working couplers installed were automatic couplers.

実際のカプラーは自動解放カプラーとしました。あらかじめ作っておいた溝に組み込みます。

The loco seems like this with working couplers. The LGB coupler on front did not seem great. It might destroy the atmosphere of the model. So I decided to remove the LGB type coupler from front beam. Then I had to make a plug to fill the gap on the beam.

カプラーを付けるとこんな感じになるわけだけど。うーむ、LGBタイプのカプラーはどう見ても不細工だなー。全体の雰囲気がぶち壊しになりかねない。前だけは、取り付けないことに決定。穴埋めのプラグが要りますね。

To make an exactly sized plug I attached scrap styrene to the opening with double-sided tapes and filled the gap with oil clay.

そこで、完全にフィットするプラグを作るため、カプラーの切り込みにスチロール板のスクラップを両面テープではりつけ、隙間に粘土を詰め込んで型をつくります。

I filled the created recess with resin.

できた窪みにレジンを流し込みます。

When the resin cured I removed mould and shaved excess by a knife. Damn, I over-cut it.

レジンが固まったらまだ柔らかいうちにナイフで削っておきます。少し削り過ぎたところがありますね。

I filled over-cut with CA putty. It is easily removed by sliding backward to allow installation of working coupler in future.

削り過ぎたところを瞬間パテで修正し、プラグの完成です。後ろに押せばはずせるので、必要があればカプラーを取り付けることもできます。

It seems much nicer without LGB coupler.

この方がずっといいな。
