I started painting. Really I do not like painting at all, but I could not finish the model without it. All parts were washed with detergent. What colour to be painted? Cool colours like blue or green do not show up well in garden railway. Warm colours are better I think. So I decided to paint upper structure with orange. The trucks might be black, but black was not attractive. I decided to paint the track with dark grey.

さあ、いよいよ大嫌いな塗装の始まりです。全部の部品を洗剤で洗浄。さてどういう色にするか？庭園鉄道では緑とか青の寒色系は映えないので上回りは暖色系にしたいところです。客車の下半分と同じオレンジすることにしました。下回りは黒では面白くないのでダークグレーにします。

When the primers were applied irregulars of the surface became clear. I rectified them by diluted putty.

下塗りをしたところ傷とかが目立つようになります。そのような所は溶きパテで修正。

Engine part was sprayed with oxide primer.

エンジン部分は茶色のプライマーでさらに塗装。

The windows on the doors mounted on frames outside. These parts were very difficult to mask. I cut out styrene pieces nicely fitted to the frame and fixed masking tape to the pieces with double-sided tape. The pieces were pushed in to the frames.

運転室のドアの窓は内側から見ると一段引っこんでいるのでマスキングが難しいです。これには窓袋にぴったり納まるスチロール板を切り出しマスキングテープを両面テープで貼り付け、内側から押し込みました。

I found some scratches on the cab after painting. I should check it carefully before painting. I fixed scratches with putty.

上回りはオレンジ色を塗ったところで、運転室にかなりの傷があるのを発見。下塗りの状態でもっとよく見ておくべきでした。600番のサンドペーパーで削って、溶きパテ塗り、埋めました。スチロールは非常に傷つきやすいので塗装前に傷埋めをする必要がありますね。

I had a disaster when I brought the bonnet roof to the garage for painting. I dropped it on the garage floor and some edges were damaged. I managed to fix it, but should have some secure handling means.

ここで大惨事が発生。(;O;)　ボンネット屋根をガレージの床に落として、角が欠けてしまいました。なんとか修復しましたが、今後は部品を運ぶ時は箱に入れて慎重に運ぶことにします。ドアノブをひねった時に取り落とすなんて言うのはアホすぎです。

I applied white paint to the logos on the truck. I used oil paint since the restore of over painting was quite easy. The thickness of the oil paint was adjusted by “painting oil medium” and I used the best brush I had. I used the red brush soaked with turpentine to wipe out over paint.

下回りは田宮のジャーマングレーにしました。台枠のロゴに白を入れます。これにはやり直しのきく油絵具を使います。ペインティングオイルメディアムで絵の具の固さを整え、手持ちの一番いい筆で塗りました（黒いやつ）。赤い筆ははみ出しの修正用です。テレピン油で少し湿らせて拭けば簡単に除去できます。

ロゴ塗り完成。上の奴は修正跡が見えますが、後でウォッシュをすれわからなくなるはずです。

Painted and assembled truck. It seems too clean. So I will apply some wash.

塗装完了し、組みあがった下回り。このままではきれいすぎるので、このあと、ウォッシュで汚しました。
