This is the head light cover supplied with the kit. It did not look impressive at all. I decided to scratch build them.

ヘッドライトなんだがキットのものは単純な木の挽物で激しくしょぼい。実物と違いすぎるので作りなおすことにした。

The base of the headlight cover is wood. So I tuned a piece of wood rod on hand. I made some R at the shoulder.

ヘッドライトの基部は木なのでありあわせの木の丸棒から削る。姿バイトを使ってRを出す。

I drilled 4mm hole to accommodate LED and made a concave curve with a ball bur.

LEDを入れるΦ４の穴をあけたあと、反射鏡の凹みをまずはモーターツールのビットで削る。

Then enlarged the concave with R3 tip.

R3の姿バイトで穴を拡大。

I cut parting off line.

突っ切り部分を少し切り込む。

I applied wood putty and sanded it down.

目止めのため木工パテを刷り込み、サンディング。

Coloured it.

色付け。

I applied a couple of coats of sanding sealer and sanded it down.

サンディング・シーラーでさらに目止め。サンディング。

Finished wooden base.

突切りし出来上がった木製基部。

Cap parts should be polished brass and I turned them out of brass rod. At first I made a hole to accept wooden parts.

先端は真鍮磨きだしとする。Φ２０の真鍮棒を規定の外径に削り木部が入るための穴を開ける。

The hole size was adjusted by work.

木部がぴったり入るように現物合わせで径を合わせる。

Double concaves of the cap were turned with R1 tip.

先端部に二段の凹みをR1のバイトで切削。

Finished brass cap.

出来上がった真鍮キャップ部。

Finished headlight cover looks great.

組み合わせるとこうなる。なかなかいい感じにできた。

They are totally different from supplied parts.

オリジナル部品とはえらい違いである。

Brass parts were sprayed with clear varnish.

真鍮部には錆止めの塗料を塗っておく。
