Schafbergbahn is famous because it was introduced in the movie “Sound of Music”.
We had a ride of “Nostalgic Train” on the left with an extra fare. Right one is ordinary train.
Difference between nostalgic and ordinary is based on oldness of rolling stocks used.

サウンドオブミュージックで有名なシャーフベルク鉄道です。
左側のが特別料金が必要なノスタルジー列車です。右のは通常の列車。違いは使われている車両にあります。
ノスタルジー列車は100年以上前の機関車と古い客車を使用。普通のは新しい車両です。どちらも蒸気機関車ですが。

The engine was a Krauss made in 1894. The condition was extremely good.

機関車は1894年製のクラウスです。整備状態は素晴らしく良好でした。

This is the engine for ordinary trains　made in 1990's. It is a sort of geared loco with reduction gears installed between wheels. This one is oil-burning and very powerful comparing to old Krauss, but draft sound is too busy because of gear reduction and not so impressive.

普通列車用の機関車。1990年代に新製されたみたいです。重油専燃ですごくパワフルです。一種のギアードロコで動輪間に減速歯車が収まっています。でも排気音はやたら忙しくていただけません。
この鉄道は蒸気しか使わない方針らしく、貨物も蒸気で上げていました。

They fill the water tank twice on the way.

途中で2回ほど給水します。

The carriage we took was filled by Japanese tourists. This railway seems very popular among Japanese because of “Sound of Music”.
I heard a voice of the tour conductor saying “Please return to the carriage in 25 minute”. What a shame. They can see this fantastic view from the top of the mountain for only 25 minutes.

我々が乗ったノスタルジー列車は日本人観光客にほぼ占領されていました。これもサウンドオブミュージックの影響なんでしょう。
山頂駅ではガイドの「25分で電車（(￣◇￣;)エッ、どこにそんもんあるんじゃい？）に戻ってください。」 という声が聞こえました。団体旅行は忙しいんだなー。こんな素晴らしい景色のところにたった25分しかいられないなんて。
