Rings appeared around the rivets of smoke box. I sprayed once more, but they were still there. I guessed they were caused by oil seeped.

I sprayed Humbrol satin paint, but it seemed just matte. Also I wanted it bit glossier.

煙室のリベットのところに謎の輪っかが現れた。もう一度上に塗ってみても消えない。どうも、リベットと穴の隙間に入っていた油が染み出してきているみたいだ。他に原因は考えられん。ハンブロールのつや消しを塗ったんだがつやが全くない完全なつや消し状態になってしまった。ちょっとツヤなさすぎだなー。

I decided to re-paint the smoke box and removed the paint by soaking in brake fluid. The brake fluid I used was about 10 years old and most provably got moisture and not usable.

塗り直すことにした。ブレーキ・フルードに浸けて剥がすことにした。このブレーキ・フルードは１０年ぐらい前に買ったので多分水分を吸っていて本来の用途には使わないほうがいいしろものである。ブレーキ・フルードで塗装をはがすアイデアはこちらから頂いた。

The paint was easily removed by soaking overnight.

一晩浸けておくとよく剥がれた。

I washed the parts by water and baked them in oven (150 deg. C) to evaporate water covered by aluminium foil to prevent fat from the oven.

水洗い後、隙間に染み込んでいる水分を飛ばすために150℃で20分ほをアルミフォイルにくるんでオーブンで焼いた。フォイルでくるんだのはオーブン内にあるであろう脂分の付着を防ぐため。

After baking, they were soaked in methanol overnight to dissolve the oil in the rivet holes.

その後、隙間に染み込んでる油を溶かし出すため、アルコールに一昼夜浸け込んだ。

This is the smoke box after methanol soaking. It was rusted bit. I cleaned it with wire brush on a rotary tool.

アルコール洗浄後の煙室。なにやらすごくサビが出てしまったので、ロータリーツールのワイヤーブラシできれいに落とした。

I applied etch primer. This time the result was much better than before. The spray condition was:

• Airbrush nozzle: 0.5mm
• Thinning: 1:0.63 (weight)
• Pressure: 2 Bar

エッチ・プライマーを塗った。今回は以前に比べてうまくできたと思う。塗装条件は：

• エアブラシ・ノズル：　0.5mm
• 薄め量：　1：0.63（重量）
• 圧力：　２Bar

Upper coat was sprayed with this condition. The work was still wet.

上塗りはこの条件で行った。これは塗装直後でまだ濡れている。

Paint flowed on the surface nicely.

塗料は表面でそこそこ流れているのがわかる。
